Sewa and Simran are two aspects of Sikhi which are fundamental to a devotee of this faith;
Sewa, meaning work or service performed without any thought of reward or personal benefit and Simran meaning the remembrance of God by repetition or recital of His Name.

Gateway to Emancipation
Sewa, which is another word for serving, can also be accomplished by physical labour, devotion, and singing songs of thanksgiving to God.
